Step Van Maintenance Checklist for Peak Season

1. Tires

  • Inspect tread depth — replace if worn below 4/32”

  • Check for uneven wear, cracks, or sidewall damage

  • Ensure all tires are properly inflated to spec

2. Brakes

  • Inspect brake pads and rotors for wear

  • Check fluid levels and top off if needed

  • Test for responsiveness during stops

3. Engine Fluids

  • Oil: Check level and quality; schedule an oil change if overdue

  • Transmission: Confirm clean fluid and proper shifting

  • Coolant: Ensure the system is full and free of leaks

4. Battery & Electrical

  • Test battery charge and connections

  • Check all lights (headlights, brake lights, reverse, etc.)

  • Ensure interior lighting and power inverters are functional

5. Camera & Safety Systems

  • Test back-up cameras and monitor visibility

  • Verify functioning sensors or alarms if equipped

  • Replace any broken or foggy lenses

6. Shelving & Cargo Area

  • Inspect shelving units for secure attachment and functionality

  • Check that bulkhead and jump seat are in good condition

8. Exterior & Body

  • Check for damage, rust, or worn seals that may worsen in colder weather
